Archangel Michael is a spiritual warrior and protector who is considered the chief angel or "angel of the highest rank": a spiritual warrior in the battle of good versus evil. He is considered a champion of justice, a healer of the sick.  In art, Archangel Michael is depicted with a sword, a banner, or scales, and is often shown vanquishing Satan in the form of a dragon.

The name "Michael" is believed to mean "One Who Is Like God".  Because they identify Michael with Jesus, he is therefore considered the first and greatest of all God's heavenly sons, God's chief messenger, who takes the lead in vindicating God's sovereignty, sanctifying his name, fighting the wicked forces of Satan and protecting God's covenant people on earth.
