In the indigenous Chilean Mapuche mythology, we are told that at the beginning of time there were two snakes circulating in the unmanifested Cosmos; Kai-Kai and Tren-tren. They initiated a singing dispute, Kai-kai then called in our waters into being: Oceans, rivers, streams, lakes, springs and glaciers. Tren-tren separated the soil from the waters with his song, so humans could live on dry land.
